Living on a Mountain

We slept in our house on the mountain for the first night. I would say it was dark and quiet, but blackout curtains and modern building materials make most houses dark and quiet.

But there was something different about sleeping at 1740 feet above sea level.

The house feels more like us. And the vibe we are creating feels more like us. The neighborhood is more friendly than our old neighborhood. And the town is a small town with a real community feel.

But when I took the dog for a walk this morning, that's when it felt like we live on a mountain. It was so quiet. I heard birdsong and wind blowing. And that's it.

We walked to the next street over and saw the view across the valley from the edge of the mountain. It's called the brow. While we were standing there, the sun came out from behind the clouds and illuminated the river.

I think we are going to like it here.
