Extra Long Tennessee I
I went to the eye doctor and it was a good example of the extra long I sound that is part of the Tennessee accent. The most common vowel sounds are short and long, but there's another one that I call extra long.
The I sound is extended to where it almost sounds like ahh. Not an eye doctor sound, but more of general practitioner sound. Nobody says open your eyes and say ahh.
When the technician tool a picture of my retina, she warned me about the brahht lahht (bright light).
