Today I came across a new pop culture term, nuke the fridge. It is derived from the latest Indiana Jones movies, where Indy hides in a lead-lined refrigerator and survives a nuclear explosion. This is the movie equivalent of the tv term, jump the shark, where a series reaches a low point and tries to revive interest with a spectacular stunt that is so outside the bounds of the regular story of the series. That term is based on the classic Happy Days episode where Fonzie attempted a water skiing jump over a shark.
