Meg’s great-aunt passed away over the weekend. Below is her obituary.
Pauline Batts Yarborough, 89, died February 24, 2007 at the Oaks of Carolina in Raleigh. Born in Wake County, near Garner, Pauline moved to Cary along with her family in 1920. She graduated from Cary High School in 1934 and attended Hardbarger’s Business School in Raleigh. She worked for the Hospital Care Insurance Company in Raleigh and for builders Jefferson Sugg and Clint Williams in Cary.
Surviving are: her sister, Lucille Batts Craddock and numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews, and great nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Florence Margaret Crocker Batts; father, James Fitzhugh Batts; sisters, Laura Elizabeth Batts, Florence Batts Kilpatrick, Daisy Batts Craddock, and Dorothy Batts Winstead; brothers, James Fitzhugh Batts, Jr., Lonnie Crocker Batts, and Frank Avery Batts; and her husband, Dr. Frank Ray Yarborough.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2007 at First United Methodist Church of Cary on Academy Street. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2:00 p.m. at the church in the narthex by Waldo Street. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Cary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Cary, 117 South Academy Street, Cary, NC 27511.
