Summer of Ants
Apparently due to the extreme drought conditions, ants are more prevalent than ever as they seek out moisture.
Ant Adventure One
I went out of town on a business trip and left my car parked at my work parking lot. Instead of parking in the middle of the lot, I parked over to the side, underneath the trees.
When I returned after two days, I notice a couple ants in the car. I opened the passenger door and saw ants trails running the length of the panel. Since I couldn’t set off a bug bomb inside the car (my first thought), I used bug spray and ant traps to get rid of them.
Ant Adventure Two
On another out of town I was visiting a client and set up my laptop in a room that had ants. They were in the area of the extension cord where I plugged. My laptop was in that room all day, but I wasn’t. Upon my return home, I discovered ants on my laptop. Every so often I would see an ant cross the screen. Squish.
After a couple of days of this I sprayed bug spray on my table and set the laptop on it for the day. Since they only seemed to come out when it was on, I left it on. I haven’t seen any on it since.
Ant Adventure Three
Yesterday at work, the colleague I share an office with had ants on her desk. They were pretty bad. The exterminator was called in the morning, but didn’t show up. I don’t know how she stayed at her desk all day. By the end of the day, they had made it to my side of the office. Yuck.
The exterminator finally showed up today and sprayed. He couldn’t believe the number of ants in our office. He was also amazed because we are on the 3rd floor. He said there must be a long line of ants coming up three floors.
I spent the day sitting at another desk working on my laptop. I didn’t want to deal with residual ants and bug spray.
