Two Languages
Everything in Brussels is in two languages: French and Dutch. But the names of things are not translations of each other. The Dutch version is an unadorned description. For example the Dutch name for the main area in Brussles is Grote Markt, which means large market. This was the use of the area for most of its history. French names are more fanciful. The French name for the same area is Grand Place, which means grand square.
