Wither Democracy

I don’t have a lot to say about the events that occurred yesterday at the Capitol, except that is was a sad day for democracy. An autocratic leader incited—and may have coordinated—his angry followers who think they are above the law to disrupt the activities of a civil society. One of the miracles of the American republic is the peaceful transfer of power. The outgoing president is resisting that tradition and burning it all down on his way out.
