I remember the early of cable sports programming and there was no telling what sport might be airing. It's how Australian Rules Football because popular in my college dorm. We also watched a lot of roller derby. But I know now that this was driven by a lack of contracts to broadcast major sports. They showed what they could.
That's why I was surprised when I saw the Paper Airplane Championships airing on a tv at the gym. I thought we had moved beyond that level of niche programming. And in the typical argument of what is and what is not a sport, I don't think there's any question about folding and flying a paper airplane.
